The pit straight had a different texture than the rest of the track, presumably to help with starts. It must rattle the drivers’ fillings though!

These are drainage channels cut into the track on the first 10 grid slots to help any rain water drain away quickly. They are new for this year and a lot of the drivers have complained that it will mean they have less grip at the start. Of course if they want more grip they can just qualify further back!
